Methods and repertoire
My teaching approach is based on the best teaching schools from the past and the present. The main criterion being the compatibility of these methods to the needs of a harmonious development of a child.
Main methodological and repertoire sources:
- elements from Carl Orff's Elementares Musizieren (creative approach, improvisation, elementary ensemble playing)
- elements from Shinichi Suzuki's violin teaching method and repertoire contained in the collections Violin School and Viola School
- chamber music repertoire by Sheila Nelson from the sheet music collections Ensemble Book
- method by the Russian teacher Stepan Miltonjan* (beginning of the teaching process in small groups, learning to play the instrument by improvisation and composing)
- standards and requirements of ABRSM international music exams**
- posture and technique improving exercises from Simon Fisher’s books Basics, Violin Lesson, Practice
* More information in his book “Pedagogy of a Musician’s Harmonious Development: a New Humanistic Learning Paradigm” (Тver 2003).
